Support Worker     (Welfare Benefits and Money Management)

The Disability Resource Centre has a vacancy for an experienced Support Worker to join our Community Services Team. You will support our service-users with benefits advice, applications and appeals. You will also deliver money management training and debt counselling on our European Union funded training programme.

The main purpose of this role is to provide information and advice to disabled people, their carers and family members on all aspects of Welfare Benefits and Money Management.

Applicants should:

Have experience of advising on Welfare Benefit rights, including Personal Independence Payments, Carers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Pension Credit and Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit.
Be able to provide information and advice on managing money including debt
Have experience of assisting people to apply for disability-related benefits by telephone, in person, in writing or outreach.
Be able to deliver one-to-one or group support including training sessions
Be able to assess and triage service users’ wider needs and signpost to support
Keep accurate records
Have a flexible and positive attitude.

This role will include working on the Building Better Opportunities ‘Financial Inclusion’ projects, funded by the European Union European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.

Ideally you will have 2 A Levels or equivalent and Maths and English at level 2 or above. You will have experience in a similar role with the ability to travel to outreach locations.

Hours: 12-16 hours per week

Salary: 23,369 (pro rata)

 PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR

We have an exciting opportunity within The Disability Resource Centre for a Project Coordinator to work with a team of staff on projects across the South East Midlands (SEMLEP) region.

You will include work on the Building Better Opportunities ‘Support into Employment’ and ‘Financial Inclusion’ projects, funded by the European Union European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.

This new post will ensure the smooth day to day operations with the Community Services department ensuring contract requirement are achieved and the delivery of high quality training provision. You will have line management responsibility for a team of staff including Support Workers, Administrator, and Tutors.

You should have 2 A level A-C (or equivalent) including Maths and English and ideally educated to degree level or hold a management or team leading qualification.  Experience in working in the learning and skills sector is essential, and knowledge of European Social Fund (ESF) projects or Big Lottery projects would be advantageous. Travel will be required throughout the SEMLEP area.

Salary:         £ 27,123 pro rota

Hours:         37 hours per week

Duration:      Fixed term contract until 31st March 2020

SUPPORT OFFICER/WORK COACH

The Disability Resource Centre is looking for an experienced individual able to support people across the Bedfordshire and South East Midlands area, empowering people of all ages affected by disability or health conditions to gain employment,

We have an exciting new role supporting workless adults on Building Better Opportunities “Support into Employment” Project, funded by the European Union European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.

You will support participants with their job search and applications. Working with employers and participants your will assist them into employment including in work support. This will include a variety of one to one coaching and group work. You work will include delivering workshops, facilitating job search and one to one support.

Ideally you will be qualified to Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance with experience in supporting learners to achieve their learning goals and progress into employment .

Travel will be required throughout the SEMLEP area. This position is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Salary: £ 23,698 pro rota
Hours: 37  hours per week
Duration: Fixed term contract until 31stMarch 2019
