The Big Conversation – helping Carers with End of Life Care

Image with black wording on white background: The Big Conversation

For carers, there are many subjects and issues to resolve which means a lot of conversations. There probably isn’t a more difficult subject to discuss than death and for carers it’s end of life care for their loved one.

There are unique issues facing carers of those approaching the end of life. The National Council for Palliative Care are holding an interactive event – the Big Conversation – Identifying Priorities and Building Resilience for Carers in End of Life Care on Friday 14th July 2017 at Keech Hospice.

The event will discuss priorities for carers who are currently caring for someone with a life-limiting condition or at end of life. The event will:

  • Help identify the most important issues for current carers
  • Help to design some supportive mechanisms/tools around resilience for carers
  • Hear from former carers about their experiences
  • Form recommendations for future carers

Speakers include:

  • Jen Kenward, Experience of Care Lead, Community, Primary & Integrated Care, NHS England
  • Gemima Fitzgerald, Clinical Psychologist/Bereavement Lead, The Rowans Hospice, Portsmouth
  • Former carers who will share their personal experiences to help inform those who can influence change
