Dementia Awareness Week 2017 banner

National Dementia Awareness Week 2017 runs from Sunday 14th to Saturday 15th May and there are lots of opportunities to find out more about the disease and how it affects people at this years planned events. It’s important to have conversation about the disease, even though it is a tough disease to deal with that has far reaching effects. There are good online resources available including this eye opening post by the daughter of a dementia patient as well as meetings and events too including a carers support meeting at the Disability Resource Centre. There’s also some free swimming this week courtesy of Active Luton – see below.

Learn about dementia and turn it into action
Dates: Sunday 14th May to Saturday 20th May, 2017
Details: Pop into your local library and ask about our collection of reminiscence books. You can also book a place on our free Information Sessions on Tue 16 May at 1pm and 3pm, to become a Dementia Friend in your library.
Learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action.

Details: Enjoy a free swim for people with dementia plus one carer or family member also swims free.
Just turn up during the times on the flyer to get a tour and a free swim at Active Luton seimming pools. There will be someone to meet and welcome you at reception.
